Section 1

About Froad

Froad is a community platform for travellers, adventurers, and locals who explore Iceland's F-roads and mountain dirt tracks. The Service provides:

• An interactive live map of Iceland's F-roads and their current status
• Real-time user location sharing (within Iceland)
• A community chat with multiple topic channels
• Road condition updates and alerts
• Information on campsites, mountain huts, and gas stations
• A road rating system contributed by community members

Section 2

Eligibility & Account Registration

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account and use the Service. By registering, you confirm that all information you provide is accurate and complete.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at hello@froad.is if you suspect unauthorised use of your account.

We reserve the right to terminate or suspend accounts that violate these Terms or are used for fraudulent purposes.

Section 3

Subscription & Payment

Full access to Froad requires an active paid subscription. Payments are processed securely by our third-party payment provider, Paddle (paddle.com). By purchasing a subscription, you also agree to Paddle's terms of service.

Discount codes may be applied at checkout when available. Discounted prices apply only to the subscription period for which they are redeemed.

Froad reserves the right to adjust pricing for future subscription periods with reasonable advance notice.

Section 4

Free vs. Paid Access

Users who have registered but not yet completed payment may have limited access to certain features. Full access to all maps, chat channels, location sharing, and community features requires a valid subscription.

We reserve the right to modify what features are available to free or paid users at any time, with appropriate notice.

Section 5

User-Generated Content

You may submit content to Froad including chat messages, photos, road ratings, profile information, and vehicle details (collectively "User Content"). By submitting User Content, you grant Froad a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to display and use that content within the Service.

You agree not to post content that:

• Is false, misleading, or deliberately inaccurate (e.g. fake road conditions)
• Is abusive, threatening, discriminatory, or harassing
• Infringes any third-party intellectual property rights
• Contains spam, advertising, or unsolicited promotions
• Violates any applicable law or regulation

We reserve the right to remove any User Content that violates these Terms, without prior notice.

Section 6

Location Sharing

The "People" feature allows you to share your real-time GPS location with other community members. Location sharing is entirely opt-in and can be toggled on or off at any time from within the app.

Location sharing is limited to coordinates within Iceland. Shared locations are visible to other authenticated, paying Froad members. We do not sell or share location data with third parties outside the Service. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.

Section 7

Road Safety Disclaimer

Froad makes no warranties about the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of road condition data. Travelling on F-roads is inherently risky. You are solely responsible for assessing conditions and driving safely. Froad accepts no liability for accidents, vehicle damage, or personal injury arising from reliance on information published within the Service.

Section 8

Intellectual Property

All content, design, code, branding, and materials provided by Froad — including the logo, map interface, and platform software — are the property of Froad and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute any part of the Service without our written consent.

Section 9

Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

• Use the Service in any way that violates applicable law
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service
• Scrape, harvest, or systematically collect data from the Service
• Impersonate any person or entity
• Use automated bots, scripts, or tools to interact with the Service
• Share your account credentials with others
• Disrupt the functionality of the Service or its infrastructure

Section 10

Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at our discretion if we determine you have violated these Terms. You may also delete your account at any time by contacting us at hello@froad.is.

Upon termination, your right to access the Service ceases immediately. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) will remain in effect.

Section 11

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Froad and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Service — including but not limited to loss of data, loss of access, or any harm arising from decisions made based on information in the Service.

Our total liability to you in connection with the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid for your subscription in the twelve months prior to the event giving rise to the claim.

Section 12

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

For material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you via email or an in-app notice.

Section 13

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Iceland. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Iceland.
